Tampa Street Photography

March 4, 2010 - I would just like to start by saying something about the field trip yesterday. What a wonderful day it was. Yes, the wind was blowing and it was a little chilly but that was more than compensated for by the unexpected surprises that made for terrific photo opportunities. The photo exhibit at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts was wonderful. The work of August Sander was a sight to behold and Jules Aarons photos depicting his version of street photography were also excellent. My impression was that everyone who viewed the exhibit was quite taken with the quality and style of the photos.

There were a few surprises like the Dixieland Band that performed after lunch in the street right outside Quiznos. We all seemed to get quite a few pictures there. And then there was the band unloading at the far end of the promenade that was going to perform for People Magazine. Our group ended the day at the new park next to the Tampa Museum of Art. Another photo opportunity for those who wanted to take advantage of it. I'm happy to say that the photo opportunities yesterday exceeded my expectations.
