Beverly  Norcum & Bob Helmick

Beverly Norcum and Bob Helmick, retired from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, shared an inside view of “Crime Scene Photography”.

We had a wonderful turnout for their presentation and they did not disappoint. Using personal stories, a lot of humor and a fascinating visual presentation they had our attention from start to finish. I think we all learned so much about what television incorrectly portrays “CSI” to be. The attention to detail, the tedious parts of the job (especially before digital photography) and the things someone in their position see that most of hope to never experience were all well presented. We are grateful for the time and energy they put into creating their captivating presentation.

Tim Neddy and Joe Constantino

Tim Neddy, assisted by Joe Constantino, did a wonderful presentation about “Sports Photography”.  A thorough presentation regarding cameras, lenses and techniques allowed all in attendance to leave with a much better understanding of how to photograph sporting events. They showed examples of their photos and had the group participate in discussions about which photos worked better.

Nancy & Bill Lester

Once again the club members were enriched by another informative presentation by the Lesters'. This time on "Hand Held Flash".

In the "flash of an eye", Bill and Nancy Lester demonstrated the many options available to solve a given lighting condition.

From remote lighting, reflectors and filters the right accessory is dependent on the effect the photographer wishes to achieve.

We are fortunate, as a club, to be able to tap these resources from such knowledgeable members.

Richard Davids

Richard Davids, as usual, gave an excellent program on Hi-key Low key photography with over a dozen examples of not only his work, but also from noted photographers. Engaging with fact and wit, " our Professor" spread out the full spectrum of the subject, with many moderate examples of high or low key images. It was a most enlightening and enjoyable program as we look forward to his next photographic filled lesson. Thank you Richard.

Nancy & Bill Lester

"Hot Shoe Anxiety" presented by Nancy Lester, the Club's Competition Chairperson, covered every aspect of flash and artificial lighting. Indoor and out, diffused, filtered and direct lighting were all demonstrated.

Joined by her husband Bill, the equipment used to achieve the desired results was covered in "hands-on" detail. A great professional presentation by the Lesters.

Chris Urso - Photographer Tampa Tribune

Chasco Camera Club had the pleasure of a wonderful presentation by the staff photographer from the Tampa Tribune, Chris Urso. Witty, entertaining, informative and well done on all levels of explaining the trials, joys and tribulations of a photojournalist. He also included many examples of his photographic skill in the form of a visual digital show. We were so fortunate to have such a talented speaker. This was the first meeting of the Fall season and we had a terrific turnout.

At our January 4th meeting the Chasco Camera Club was richly rewarded with a beautiful presentation by Mike Eckstein of the Spring Hill Camera Club. The subject of his digital presentation was "Wyoming to Utah". Outstanding images from a different perspective of common and well known sites, as well as secret little surprises, which attract us, as photographers, to this part of America.
